Midweek Life Groups

There are many options for becoming involved in women's Midweek Life Groups with Bible studies that range from in-depth courses to times of prayer and sharing.  We have Life Groups for everyone from moms with young children to retirees and widows plus for everyone in between; and for new believers to the seasoned follower.

A Children's Program is provided to minister to the children of women regularly attending Tuesday Midweek Life Groups. The program includes planned instructional time for children 2-5 years of age, home-school children, and nursery care for those under two. For your child's safety there are limitations in class size, therefore, registration must be received and approved before admittance. Ladies participating in our Tuesday groups are asked to help in the children's program once or twice a year.

Here's the list of the Groups/Studies currently offered. This list will be updated as new studies are beginning or groups become full. Tuesday groups begin Sept. 11 and meet 9:15am to 11:15am; Wednesday groups begin Sept. 12 and meet 6:30pm to 8:00pm. All these groups meet at Westwood.

Deb's Group (Tues.)
Set Apart, Study of the Beatitudes by Jennifer Kennedy Dean ($12):
You were made for holiness, a core concept of the Beatitudes, which is accessed through a praying life—a life lived in the present-tense power of God. It is only when you continually pursue holiness that blessedness comes, and you discover the power and fulfillment of the promise of God. Unlike a cicumstance-driven emotion such as happiness, blessedness is eternal and grounded in the reality of Christ in you. You are able to live in the state of blessedness that God has created for you when you discover the key to true holiness—a call to freedom and joy.

Darla and Marcia's Groups (Tues.) Nehemiah: A Heart That Can Break by Kelly Minter ($15.50) Nehemiah's heart for the oppressed, suffering and poor is a beacon whose light shines on the current call of the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Nehemiah had to have a heart that could break so he could restore a wall that was broken. In addition, this study addresses teamwork, integrity, generosity, truth in culture, God's compassion and much more.

Donna's Group (Tues.) Living Your Life As A Beautiful Offering
by Angela Thomas ($13) You will be encouraged
to rekindle your heart by returning your life to God. How can an imperfect life with blemishes and scars reflect back to God a true gratefulness for His love? Jesus knows you are not perfect, but He also knows that you are made perfect in Him, if only you will come and surrender to Him daily. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us His compassionate instruction for everyday living and then wraps His teaching with the promise of His blessing. "Jesus wants us to learn to live in a way that reflects the kingdom of God to the world, to live as a woman with a kingdom heart," writes the author. "I truly want to be that woman. And Jesus says that when you are, it's beautiful and blessed."

Eileen's Group (Tues.) Precept Upon Precept Inductive Studies: Isaiah, Part 1 ($34) Isaiah is the crown jewel of Old Testament prophets, a book that strikes awe in the heart of its reader. Prophecies from Isaiah are mentioned in twenty-two places in the Gospels, Acts and Romans. The words of Isaiah were often found on the lips of the Christ, the Messiah prophesied in Isaiah. In Isaiah Part 1, you'll meet the Holy One of Israel, and learn how He deals with those who claim Him as God but don't honor Him as God in the way that they live.

Harriet's Group (Tues.) Precepts for Life: America at the Crossroads.  Follow along with the no cost study guide for the radio/TV broadcast series by Kay Arthur. When a nation that once feared and respected God turns its back and walks away, it will face His judgment. America, like biblical Israel, is at a crossroads in its sin.

Janelle's Group (Wed.) Check Back--Info To Come Soon

Jen's Group (Wed.) Not A Fan by Kyle Idleman ($10)
If Jesus were to sit down with you right now and have a DTR (Define the Relationship) conversation, how would you respond? Are you truly his follower or just a fan--or perhaps someone who doesn't even care about the difference? Not a Fan invites you to make Jesus not merely the object of your admiration, but the very center of your life. Through biblical teaching, anecdotes and humor, the author explores what it means to truly be a follower of Christ. He also shares several powerful Not a Fan stories--testimonies from fellow followers who turned to Jesus. Don't miss this wake up call to radical discipleship!

Lois' Group (Wed.) James: Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore ($18) Be inspired to put your faith into action in practical ways as you get to know both the man and the Book of James.  James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility and prayer.

Sheryl's Group (Wed.) Stretch to Develop the Heart of a Disciple ($10) Stretch focuses on practicing the spiritual exercises of memorizing and meditating on Scripture, practicing different methods of prayer, studying the book of Colossians and writing your beliefs, core values and life purpose. Books that relate to the monthly emphasis are assigned and discussed. Accomplishing the assignments takes about one hour a day. Stretch meets weekly from September to May.
